Google Buzz

Google has launched “Google Buzz“, which they claim is “the new way to start conversations about the things you find interesting”. Google Buzz is the social media network which will be integrated in Gmail accounts of the users and will allow the Gmail users to connect, talk, share updates, photos, videos etc. right from their Gmail account. Thus, eliminating the need of finding new friends.

However, it is yet to be seen that how Google Buzz will be welcomed by 176 million users of Gmail worldwide and how will it compete with Facebook and Twitter.

Google Chrome, a real time saving browser

Well, it hasn’t been long since I have started using Google Chrome (after it was highly recommended by one of our web developers here at CreationsPool) but  I am already feeling that I might never want to go back to any other web browser (big statement though ;-) ).

Ever since its launching in September 2008, there have been soo many reviews and opinions published in various blogs and on other platforms however, today I am writing this post to point out some of the major benefits that allow its users to save a lots of time.

  • First of all it saves time by offering various functionalities without installing any additional toolbars like other browsers such as IE.
  • It retrieves the URL much quickly as compared with other browsers. In other words, the browsing speed is much faster as compared to IE, Firefox and others thus, it allows everyone to save significant browsing time for performing different online tasks.
  • In Chrome, Google has made searching the web very easy by allowing users to just type the keywords in the address bar and press “Enter”, it will show you all the Google’s search results for that particular keyword or phrase. Therefore, by combining search and address bar Google Chrome gives the uses a fantastic experience of 2-in-1.
  • It automatically shows the thumbnails of your most visited pages whenever you open the browser, a new tab or a new window. So if you want to go back to your corporate website again and again you do not have to write the URL again and again but just click on the thumbnail.
  • “Dynamic Tabs” allow users to move or swap the tabs in a window or separate a tab to make it another window just by “click and drag” functionality.
  • Google’s Chrome is very easy to understand thus, new users find it very easy to switch to this browser once they start using it.

What is SEO, Simply?

Search Engine Optimization aka SEO  has become the core need of every business’s online presence. However, still
this term is suffering from the lack of its awareness among the people who really really need to know about it. Thus, SEO is perceived as something complicated and often is ignored by online entrepreneurs.
Here is a very simple way to understand what exactly it is and why is it so important….
“SEO is all about your business’s location on the internet”.
Now why is it soo important? because you would like your customers or potential customers to find you easily while they are in the online market place…Simple, isn’t it?
Let us take an off-line example, Suppose there are 1000 shops of leather goods in the local leather market of your city. Now as a leather trader, would you not like your shop to be located at the entrance of the market or in other words at the most prominent location of the market so that whoever wants to buy a leather product can see you before they see any other leather shop in the market or at least they see you right before or after they see your other competitors’ shops.
Similarly, if your website’s link appears at the top of the your potential customer’s search results or in the first page of the search results then your chances of securing the business and making a sale are far more than those businesses who are very hard to find in the market (I mean online market).
Why should I do it? because if you will not do it, your customer will and ofcourse you do not want your potential customers to find your competitor before they find you. Wasn’t that simple as well?
We hope that in the light of these simple facts you can imagine that what role a Search Engine Optimized website might play in the success of your business.

Please do not forget to write your comments to let us know your thoughts on SEO.

Basics of a simple & clean website?

Simplicity can never be deceptive…so is the case with your website. If your website is simple and clean, it not only conveys your message clearly but also builds trust and credibility that are the soul of the success of your business.

If you really want to make your website fall into the category of simple and clean that attracts your visitors’ attention and fulfills the purpose of its own being then following are a few tips for you that I have learned over the last 6 years since I baptized to the internet.

Graphics is the aspect of your website which is most visible to your website traffic. Naturally every eye that comes to any of the pages of your website sees the colors and images of the page in the first instance and if the eyes find a complicated picture of your website, they simply leave it and go to the next website which is more visually pleasing.

A great graphic job from a professional design expert is a must but make sure not to be unnecessarily loud thus, making a mess of it.

Website Content is the next thing that the eyes go to and it must be easily understandable i.e. it should be written in small, meaningful and easy to understand sentences with proper headings and captions.

The content must also be in accord with your target visitor’s needs and should focus on providing them some new and useful information.

A useful tip here is to write the content that addresses their problems and offers the solutions.

The Home Page of the website is the store-front of your online shop, thus, this page is probably the most important determinant of the amount of time a visitor might spend on your website. Home page must not only have a very adequately attractive look but it must also have the the most important copy (message) for your potential customers and visitors. This message can be anything from a single line about your best offer or asking the visitor to download your “Free e-book” to a brief description of your services in the form of a paragraph.

In short a visitor should know what exactly you are all about within a few moments he is on the home page.

Easy Navigation of your website will let the visitors easily navigate across the website and will enable them to easily find the required information. Make sure that information like What you do, Who you are, How to contact you, what are your services and/or products is right at the most prominent (normally top) place of every page of the website and is just a click away for the visitor.

Search Engines also like websites with good and easy navigation.

So it is not necessary that if you are spending a lots of money on the website then it would serve the purpose most appropriately but keeping the website as much simple and clean as possible definitely helps achieve the desired outcome from the online presence of your business.

Write your comments to let us know what your thoughts are.

Top 3 benefits of having a CMS for your website

Content Management System or a CMS (in short) enables you to change and edit the content of your website yourself ,very easily. There are many Open Source CMS systems available online and I really liked this list of Top Ten Content Management Systems.

However, today I would like to write about top three benefits of using a Content Management System that you must know if you are thinking about getting one for your website from an expert web services company like CreationsPool.

  1. It saves your time and money by letting you update, edit and manage your website yourself instead of being dependent on some web developer or a technical person. Also it is a one time investment and a good and authentic CMS will prove to be useful and meet your website’s requirements for many months or years (in some cases) to come. Therefore, you will have to spend minimum on your website’s maintenance.
  2. You can expand your website as your business grows by adding additional pages about your offerings and departments. Moreover, you can keep changing the content on these pages according to the changing demands of your market so that to keep your customers updated and know more about your company and products.
  3. It is usually very easy to use and understand, thus, letting you require no understanding of back-end coding such as HTML, JavaScript, PHP etc. Mostly you get familiar with the system after using it for a couple of times.

How to choose the web development partner?

Your website is the face of your business, an elegant and shining gem of your marketing efforts. This is why you must select the most appropriate website development partner to make a perfect website for your business that heps you achieve all the intended goals.

However, choosing a trustworthy and highly-knowledgeable partner is not always an easy task. Many companies and businesses find themselves in a real fix after selecting a wrong web partner thus, losing precious time and resources.

Following are the five characteristics of the potential web-partner that you must look for in order to ensure a successful long-term and reliable relationship.

1) How professional they are?

Professionalism is an attribute that can be determined by the way a company carries itself i.e. the way you as a potential client is being approached by the web development company for the first time or how is your inquiry being attended and responded if you as a client are approaching the web development company for the first time. At this stage, in order to understand the degree of their professionalism it might also be very helpful to know what other clients of the web development company say about them.

The behavior and actions of your potential web-partner at this stage will help you visualize how different issues and glitches will be dealt with and what level of communication will take place between you and your partner.

2) A giver or a taker?

Are they concerned more about the price and costs associated with development of the web portal or they are more d in providing sincere advice over your concerns. Sincerity to client and client’s requirements is a must-have attribute for a web developer i.e. they must convey the essential information and insights to the potential client that are useful to better understand their needs and determine better and more sophisticated ways to achieve the marketing objectives. And of course all this at an affordable and better price.

3) How serious they are?

Yes, a service provider’s interest in a potential client’s project is a major determinent of the way your web project will be treated and what priority your project will be given. You must understand and feel whether the web development company you are talking to want to be an equal stakeholders in your website project or you are just another client for them.

This attribute will be a major determinant to evaluate whether they want to become a long-term and a highly- reliable partners or not.

4) Knowledgeable or not?

The potential web-partner must have abundant knowledge in their field and must also be willing to share the required knowledge with you as a client. For instance they must not be reluctant to share what technology and platform will be used to develop your website and meet all other online needs. Also they should be a reliable source for knowing what is going on in the market and what are the latest trends in web design and technologies etc.

5) Do they believe in paper work?

After you have chosen to go ahead with this particular web company, this is probably the most important factor while selecting a trusted web development partner for your business. It is always best to get a signed agreement of what has been claimed, discussed, being offered and being promised to deliver. The agreement must state the details like website development costs, timelines, sitemaps, payment schedules, website functionalities, No. of pages etc.
